Offered is one of the most unique New York Yankees team-signed baseballs we have ever offered for the fact that it has been signed twice by Babe Ruth. The Bon-Tober "International League" baseball has been signed in either black or green fountain pen by the following fourteen members of the 1931 New York Yankees: Babe Ruth (twice; once in black ink on the sweet and again in green ink on a side panel), Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Earle Combs, Red Ruffing, Joe McCarthy (Mgr.), Bill Dickey, Lyn Lary, Lou McEvoy, Dusty Rhodes, Ivy Andrews, Johnny Allen, Dusty Cook, and Roy Sherid. Both the green-ink Ruth and Gehrig signatures grade 8/10. The blank-ink Ruth signature grades 5/10 due to a slight abrasion on the "Ruth" portion of the signature. The remaining signatures grade 7/10 overall. While only supposition, it appears that this ball started out as a single-signed Babe Ruth baseball, because the black-ink Ruth signature on the sweet spot features quotation marks on either side of "Babe." (Ruth ended that practice sometime around 1929.) Then, a few years later, the original owner used the same ball to acquire the green-ink signatures of the 1931 Yankees team members. The result is this amazing ball, which is one of the few we have ever seen featuring two Babe Ruth signatures. It is also notable for the quality of the Ruth and Gehrig signatures on the side panels. The ball is moderately toned, with a few small abrasions. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication.
