An unused 1976 Bicentennial bat issued to iconic catcher Johnny Bench. The Louisville Slugger bat is 35.5" long with Bench's name stamped onto the barrel. Also stamped onto the barrel is an image of the Liberty Bell, celebrating the country's Bicentennial. Bench's number 5 has been written on the knob of the bat in red marker. The catcher joined the Cincinnati Reds in 1967 and played his entire career there. Bench is one of the greatest players of all-time and is considered to be the standard by which all catchers are judged against. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
