Offered is an Amos Alonzo Stagg signed photograph, with a GEM MINT signature. Stagg was an amazing college football coach whose sports coaching innovations became a major part of not only football, but also of basketball and baseball as well. Stagg was an end at Yale University and was selected to college football's first All-American Football Team in 1889. He served as a head football coach from 1890-1946: The International YMCA Training School (now Springfield College), University of Chicago (1892-1932), College of the Pacific (1933-46). His overall college football coaching record is 314-199-35, with consensus National Championships at the University of Chicago in 1905 and 1913. His myriad football innovations include; the huddle, the reverse, unbalanced line, Statue of Liberty play, quick kick, and uniform numbers. At the University of Chicago, he also coached the baseball team in two different coaching stints, and for one season he coached the university's basketball team. He was even involved with track and field and served as a coach on the 1924 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team. In basketball, he played in the first public basketball game, in 1892, and he later popularized 5-on-5 basketball as a coach. In baseball, his innovated use of a batting cage. Stagg is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, both as a player and as a coach.

The offered photo measures 5.25x7.75". That pistol in Stagg's right hand does not mark him as any sort of gunslinger. Of course, it's actually a starter's pistol for track, and Stagg is posing in the stadium named after him, Stagg Field, in Chicago. Using black ink from a fountain pen, Stagg signed and inscribed the photo: "Amos Alonzo Stagg/Stagg Field, University of Chicago."
