Circa 1948 Birmingham Black Barons season pass issued and signed by C. Eric Lincoln, business manager-secretary of the famed Negro League club. This pass is actually Lincoln's business card, which he has modified into a season pass by typing the following on the reverse: "Please Admit Bearer/Mr. GH Lockhard/To All Black Baron Games/Not Transferable." It is signed "C. Eric Lincoln" in black ink (grading 9/10) on the reverse. All Negro League material is rare and this piece is no exception. This is the first example of this signed business card/pass we have ever seen, let alone offered. Charles Eric Lincoln spent only a brief time working for the Barons after college. He later became professor emeritus of religion and culture at Duke University and upon his death at the age of seventy-five in 2000, his The New York Times obituary described him as the "author of several of the most important scholarly works on the religious experience of black Americans." The card (3.5x2") displays moderate wear and is in Very Good condition overall.
