1948 Cleveland Indians team photo supplement issued by The Cleveland Press on October 6, 1948, which was the date of the first game of the 1948 World Series between the Indians and Boston Braves. Because of its regional single-date issue, and its fragile nature, this supplement is rare. This is the first example we have offered in the past twenty-five years and we have seen few others at auction during that time. The supplement (17x12.5"), printed on paper stock, features thirty-two team members in a classic team pose, including Satchel Paige (rookie year), Larry Doby, Lou Boudreau (player/manager), Bob Feller, Joe Gordon, Bob Lemon, team owner Bill Veeck, Al Rosen, Dale Mitchell, and Ken Keltner. Each player is identified in print in the lower right corner. The team name and year, along with the date of issue, are printed along the top border. Aside from some very light toning and several light creases throughout, the supplement remains in Excellent condition and is perfect for framing. A scarce display piece commemorating the Indians' 1948 World Championship.
