Rare "accordion" style photo postcard issued by the New York Highlanders for the 1906 season. This is not only the first example of this novel 1906 Highlanders postcard we have ever offered, but the first we have ever seen at auction. The front cover features a photo of the crowd at Hilltop Park. The back cover reads "Baseball Mail Card" and includes a stamp box and a blank area for the written address (the offered example has been neither addressed nor mailed). The postcard opens up to reveal individual photos (1.75x3") of eighteen team members, with the attached photos layered "accordion" style so that they fit snugly between the two covers. The photos of Keeler and Moriarty are printed on the interior back cover, while the remaining sixteen photos are printed on the folded paper insert. The players featured here are Griffith (Mgr.), Chesbro, Chase, McGuire, Hogg, Clarkson, Newton, Hahn, Orth, Leroy, Yeager, Williams, Elberfeld, LaPorte, Conroy, and Hoffman. Each player is identified in print below his respective image. Also included in the foldout portion are two blank scoresheets. The interior front cover features the entire American League schedule for 1906. Issued by the Diamond Publishing Co., as noted on the interior front cover. 

The postcard (5.25x3.5"; closed) has been reinforced on the interior along the spines of both the front and rear covers, but it should be noted that this is a vintage reinforcement that appears to have been done decades ago. A few small splits are evident along the fold lines of the photo inserts, but the piece is intact as issued. Light toning affects the exterior. In Very Good condition overall and in much better condition than one would expect for such a fragile piece of this age and construction.
