Presented is a 1984 Ken Griffey Jr. Knothole League original photograph from when the future Hall of Famer was 14 years old and playing center field in Cincinnati with a team called Denny's Hair Dimensions. Three years later, Griffey, the son of Ken Griffey Sr., was a graduate of Cincinnati's famed Moeller High School and drafted by the Seattle Mariners as the first overall pick in the 1987 Major League Baseball Draft. Griffey Jr. played 22 seasons in the Major Leagues: Seattle Mariners (1989-99 & 2009-10), Cincinnati Reds (2000-2008), and Chicago White Sox (2008). The 13-time All-Star batted a career .284, with 660 home runs, and he won an AL MVP and 10 Gold Gloves. In 2009-10, Ken Griffey Jr. and his father played on the same Seattle Mariners team, and they became the first father-and-son team to play in the same game on August 31, 2009, when they also hit back-to-back singles in a 5-2 win over the visiting Kansas City Royals. Later that season, On September 15th, at Anaheim Stadium, facing Kirk McCaskill of the Los Angeles Angels, the Griffeys became the first father and son team to homer in the same game as hit back-to-back blasts in the first inning.

The offered colored photo measures 5.1x7.1". Junior Griffey was living in Cincinnati in 1984 because his father had been a mainstay for the Cincinnati Reds before this, and he still had a home in Cincinnati. Junior Griffey's Denny's Hair Dimensions knothole team went 14-2 that season to take the A2 District 15 Championship. Junior is in the top row, second from the left, in the photograph, originally taken in 1984. The offered photograph, circa 1996, has been encapsulated and PSA Certified as TYPE IV AUTHENTIC. The offered photo is in EXCELLENT condition.
