Offered is a 1973-75 Larry Bowa Philadelphia Phillies game used bat, one of the nicest Bowa bats you will ever see. Larry Bowa was a fiery National League shortstop for 17 seasons: Philadelphia Phillies (1970-81), Chicago Cubs (1982-85), New York Mets (1985). Bowa was a player who never gave up. Despite not making his high school team in Sacramento, California, Bowa later made the baseball team at Sacramento City College and eventually signed with the Phillies, breaking into the Major Leagues with Philadelphia in 1970. The 5-time All-Star won a pair of Gold Glove Awards. He hit a career .260, with 15 home runs. He made his mark with his defense, leading the NL in shortstop fielding percentage six times and still holds the career NL fielding percentage mark for shortstops. Bowa won a World's Championship with the Phillies in 1980. Etched on the offered bat barrel is "GENUINE Larry Bowa Louisville Slugger." Stamped into the knob is [Model] "U1" and written by an unknown hand on the knob, in black marker, is "10." Tons of use with pine tar cover the upper part of the handle. There are numerous ball impressions on the barrel. The bat has a length of 34.2", and it weighs 31 ounces. At Lelands, we rate this bat a 9.5/10, with the only thing keeping it from perfect being a handle crack.
