Rusty Staub played 23 years in the Major Leagues, and he is the only Major Leaguer to have at least 500 hits for four different teams (Houston Astros, Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Detroit Tigers). Displayed is a 1971-79 Rusty Staub game used bat. During 1971-79, Staub played for the Montreal Expos (1971), New York Mets (1972-75), Detroit Tigers (1976-79), and Montreal Expos ('79). Staub also spent six years with the Houston Colt .45s/Astros, but before the offered bat was game used. Staub was a right fielder, first baseman, and noted pinch hitter, with a .279 lifetime average and 192 home runs. The bat is an "Adirondack 302." Machine-stamped on the barrel is "BIG STICK/RUSTY STAUB/PERSONAL MODEL." The bat has a length of 34" and a weight of 36.5 ounces. On the knob is etched "265B" as the model number. Handwritten on the knob, by an unknown hand in black marker, is "10," Staub's number, and "35." There is a crack in the upper barrel, a pop-up crack with no pieces of wood missing. This hammered Staub bat should be graded 9-9.5/10 as a result of the crack. Nice pine tar and great use throughout the hitting area.
