Presented is a fascinating scrapbook collection of 1936 Sporting News All-Star stamps (38, including 16 Hall of Famers) along with additional 1936 player stamps from both the Boston American (newspaper) (20) and the Sunday Advertiser (newspaper) (2). The 16 Sporting News All Star stamps of Hall of Famers: Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Gomez, Bill Dickey, Joe "Ducky" Medwick, Billy Herman, Lefty Grove, Mel Ott, Arky Vaughn, Joe McCarthy (manager), Gabby Hartnett, Leo Durocher (HOF manager), Dizzy Dean, Ernie Lombardi, and Carl Hubbell. The additional player stamps contain some 1936 All Stars, and some Hall of Famers, but these stamps do not comprise an All Star collection. The stamps include six (6) Hall of Famers: Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Al Simmons, Pie Traynor, Bill Terry, and Red Ruffing. The stamps each have a photo and biography, and they are affixed to a 10.25x12.75" scrapbook comprised of 50 pages.

The scrapbook also has many other circa 1936 baseball photos (180), mostly very small headshots, as well as intriguing articles. The 1936 All-Star Game was the 4th MLB All-Star Game, and the National League won by a 4-3 score. The '36 game was the first All Star Game win for the National League, as the St. Louis Cardinals' Dizzy Dean took the win, besting the New York Yankees' Lefty Gomez. The Yankees' Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig, homered, as did the Chicago Cubs' Augie Galan. The Sporting News All Star stamps measure approx. 2.25x4" and they were clipped from the pages of the Sporting News. The other player stamps were clipped from pages of the Boston American or the Sunday Advertiser, and newspaper clips that do not have adhesive on back. These stamps measure approx. 2x4.5", except for four, which have had the heading of "Sports Stamp" cut off, making them measure approx. 2x4.5" instead of 2x5", and one Sunday Advertiser stamp on which the heading of "Sports Stamps" has been cut off, making the stamp measure 2x3.75" instead of 2x4.25".

The album contents are 88 years old, and the album and the sports stamps exhibit normal wear. The album covers have small areas of surface paper loss, and some scrape marks and small, light stains. The scrapbook pages show wear, with expected minor darkening and light foxing. Some of the album pages have small areas of paper loss along the edges. The pages show some very small glue remnants and other very minor imperfections. The aforesaid description is to be expected because of the passage of time. Overall, the album has held up well for its nearly nine-decade age, and the pages can be turned, perused, and enjoyed without damage to the contents. The stamps in the album, featuring a plethora of Hall of Famers, make this offering a prime, vintage collectible.
