Displayed is a 1931 Washington Senators multi-signed Reach Official American League Ball (Barnard) with 16 signatures, including Hall of Famers Walter Johnson, Joe Cronin, and Sam Rice. Walter Johnson had 417 career wins, second in MLB all-time only to Cy Young's 511 victories. Johnson had retired as a player, and in '31 he managed the Senators to a 92-62-2 season, for 3rd place in the AL. Later, Joe Cronin married the niece (Mildred Robertson) of Washington Senators owner Clark Griffith, and in 1933 Cronin became a player-manager of the Senators at only 26 years of age, taking the Senators to the AL Pennant. In a short while he became a player-manager of the Boston Red Sox. Outfielder Sam Rice played 20 Major League seasons, all but his final season with Washington. "The Big Train," Walter Johnson, signed in blue ink on the sweet spot. The signature is faint, and the last name (Johnson) appears to have a spot over it, perhaps from some cleaning agent, that allows the last name to be discerned more easily than Johnson's first name. Coach Nick Altrock also signed the ball, as did players Ossie Bluege and Buddy Myer. The autographs include some very faint signatures, and overall the signatures average 4/10. The ball has some spots and small stains and is in overall very good condition. The multi-signed ball comes with a PSA/DNA LOA.
