A signed Type I photograph from the rookie year of baseball legend Willie Mays on the date of his Major League Debut on 5/25/51! The black and white photo, which measures 7x9.125", shows New York Giants manager Leo Durocher pointing something out to the young player. Photo has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA as "TYPE I" and they note: "Mays' 1st Career MLB Game. May 25, 1951, Shibe Park, Philadelphia, PA. With Leo Durocher. Note that photo is misdated and has a WWP stamp. applied at a later period but stock is from 1951. Willie Mays-PSA/DNA Certified Autograph with inscription. Photo Size: a. 7" x 9-1/8". Mays has autographed the photo, inscribing, "To David, Willie Mays" in black marker. Mays was a sensation from his first year in the bigs, hitting 20 home runs and driving in 68 in his first season and he would go on to become one of the greatest players in baseball history. Mays passed away in 2024 at the age of 93.
