"Holy Cow!" was the trademark "non-expletive" of choice for New York Yankee broadcaster Phil Rizzuto. The Hall of Fame former Yankee shortstop broke the mold as a radio and television broadcaster, an American original with his lovable and goofy antics behind the microphone. Offered is a terrific, humorous color photo of Rizzuto, as he hams it up at Yankee Stadium with the proverbial, but this time very real, "Holy Cow." Before becoming a media star, Rizzuto was a 5'6" Major Leaguer who played his entire 13-year career with the Yankees (1941-42 & 1946-56). Nicknamed "the Scooter" for the way he scooted around the bases as he ran, Phil played exclusively with the Bronx Bombers, and he was a member of seven World Champions. The 5-time All-Star batted a career .273. A fine defender, Rizzuto was second on the all-time MLB list in double plays for a shortstop when he retired. His best season was 1950, when he batted .324 and scored 125 runs as the Yankees were once again World Champions.

The prize cow is nattily attired in bridle and chain, while Rizzuto is a dapper fashion plate as well, dressed in a spiffy dark, blue suit with a red, white, and blue Yankee tie and a white corsage. Always an engaging showman, the Scooter has his left arm on the cow's neck and in a respectful way points his index finger at the bovine, as if to say, "Look who's finally here! It's Holy Cow, my buddy." The famed broadcaster has both signed and inscribed the charming photo. Using a fine tip blue marker, Rizzuto, in neatly scripted, big, and bold handwriting, has, in the time-honored way of ballplayers, teased the recipient of his inscription, the consignor of this offering, as Rizzuto wrote, "Holy Cow[.] The Game Must be Over - Joe Tracy is at Bat - Phil Rizzuto HOF 94." The photo measures approx. 10.4x13.5", attractively matted and framed in Yankee blue and white to approx. 17x19.5". The offering is in EXCELLENT condition, and it provides any sports fan with a warm, fascinating remembrance of a true Yankee immortal.
