Circa 1958-66 Roy Campanella Los Angeles Dodgers post-career jersey. This is an intriguing garment because it bears Roy Campanella's number when he played with the Dodgers but was manufactured after 1957, which was Campanella's final year due to his tragic car accident that left him permanently paralyzed. The cream-colored flannel jersey is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number "39" on the front and reverse. All letters and reverse numerals are applied in blue felt. All front numerals are applied in red felt. A "Wilson 46" label is located on the left front tail. The jersey has no alterations and displays light wear. While it is possible that this jersey was produced for Campanella's use during an Old Timers Day event or similar function, any use or ownership by Campanella is pure speculation and no additional information or documentation accompanies the jersey. We will note that Wilson produced Dodgers home jerseys in 1964, but the button placard on this garment does not conform to the style used by the Dodgers that season. This jersey was obtained during a recent MEARS online auction and is accompanied by the MEARS auction LOA.
