"At the New York Military Academy, I was captain of the baseball team," said Donald Trump. "I was supposed to be a pro baseball player." Displayed is a Donald Trump single-signed baseball. Donald Trump became a New York City real estate entrepreneur, the star of the television show The Apprentice, and then the 45th President of the United States. So, Donald Trump never did play professional baseball, and he never entered the military, and he became the only United States President not to have had prior military or government service prior to taking office. Trump was the U.S. President from 2017-21 after defeating Hilary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential race. Trump lost to former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential race, and Trump, barring any problems caused by looming legal issues, is on track to be the Republican Presidential nominee in 2024. Was Donald Trump fabricating a past baseball experience or exaggerating the extent of his baseball prowess? Writer Leander Schaerlaecken, in a May 5, 2020, article in Slate, researched the former President's claims, and found the following: Donald Trump was a co-captain of the baseball team at the New York Military Academy. He played first base, and he was very good defensively. Apparently, he was athletic and had a nice-looking baseball swing, but he didn't hit was as well as he swing might indicate. Thus, he was not really a professional prospect, but at a small, private school level he was a decent player. Donald Trump signed the offered baseball on the sweet spot. Ironically, in view of Donald Trump's previous policy as President of urging that tariffs be increased on Chinese goods, the signed baseball was manufactured in China. Using a blue/black marker, Trump signed the Spalding Official National League Ball (White) with his usual flair, using a blue ballpoint to pen an extroverted signature with big, angular letters. The ball exhibits some foxing on all panels and a few tiny stains. The signed ball comes with a PSA LOA for the signature.
