"I was supposed to be a pro baseball player," said Donald Trump. "At the New York Military Academy, I was captain of the baseball team." Displayed is a Donald Trump single-signed baseball. Well, Donald Trump never did play professional baseball, and instead, he became a real estate mogul, a television star on the show The Apprentice, and the 45th President of the United States. The only United States President not to have had prior military or government service prior to taking office, Trump was the U.S. President from 2017-21. He defeated Hilary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential race, lost to former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential race, and is on track to be the Republican Presidential nominee in 2024. Was Donald Trump just making up stories about his baseball prowess? Writer Leander Schaerlaecken, in a May 5, 2020, article in Slate, researched the former President's claims and found the following: Donald Trump was a co-captain of the baseball team at the New York Military Academy. He played first base, and he was very good defensively. Apparently, he had a nice-looking baseball swing, but he didn't hit as well as his swing might indicate. Donald Trump signed an Official League baseball, (made in China), on the sweet spot. Using a blue/black marker, he signed with his usual flair, with big, angular letters. The ball is in excellent condition. The signed ball comes with a PSA LOA for the signature.
