He was a 13-time All-Star who was a 3-time AL batting champion and a key part of the 1985 Kansas City Royals World Champions. He batted .305 lifetime and hit 317 home runs. He focused the attention of the nation's fans in 1980 when, for much of the season, he was hitting over .400, but he fell short at the end, batting an amazing .390.
