Presented is a Lou Gehrig cut signature that has been affixed to an action display photo. Hall of Fame first baseman Gehrig was a great hitter who usually batted fourth in the New York Yankees lineup, right behind Babe Ruth. Gehrig played his entire 17-year Major League career (1923-39) with the New York Yankees. He hit 493 home runs with a lifetime batting average of .340. He was a big factor in the Bronx Bombers winning seven World Series when he was on the team. The Iron Horse played in 2,130 consecutive games, and held the Major League consecutive games record until it was broken by Cal Ripken Jr. A 1.5x3.5" card has Gehrig's autograph. The card has been affixed to a 7.5x9.75" black-and-white photo of Gehrig just as he is finishing his follow through on his swing. From the eyes of Gehrig, the catcher, and the umpire, it appears that Gehrig has hit the ball well and to right field. Gehrig signed the card in black ink from a steel tip fountain pen. The display has been matted and framed to 11x13". The display comes with a JSA LOA for the Gehrig autograph, Certification #X32876. The Gehrig autograph, in particular the first part of the signature, has faded over time, but it is still legible. The photograph is in excellent condition.
