Amazing circa 1916 Type I snapshot depicts a hunting trip which included Babe Ruth and then-Boston Red Sox teammate Dick Hoblitzell. A total of six hunters are included in this 3.5x2.5" black and white shot, with pencil notation on back reading, "B. Ruth 3rd from left - R. Hoblitzell 4th from left - Hunting Trip West" in unknown hand. The 1916 designation is important as that was the second of back-to-back championships won by Hoblitzell with the Sox, and one of seven earned by Ruth. That season, The Bambino hit just three homers in 136 "dead ball era" plate appearances, though he did lead the American League in pitching starts (40), shutouts (9), and earned run average (1.75). From the family of Dick Hoblitzell, encapsulated by PSA as Type I AUTHENTIC.
