Displayed is a gorgeous, Babe Didrikson Zaharias Type I golf action shot signed by Didrikson, commonly regarded as the foremost all-around women's athlete in history. Didrikson was born as Mildred Ella Didrikson, and she later changed the spelling of her last name to Didrikson. She said that she got her "Babe" nickname from hitting five home runs in one baseball game, but actually she was called "Bebe" by her mother since Mildred was born. Babe was an amazing Olympian who won three medals in the 1932 Olympics: javelin (Gold), 80-meter hurdles (Gold), and high jump (Silver). She remains the only athlete, female or male, to medal in a throwing, running, and jumping event in the Olympics. In golf, Didrikson won 41 LPGA events, including 10 Majors. Didrikson excelled in many sports. She barnstormed with basketball teams, performed with the House of David baseball team, and even pitched in a few exhibition games against Major League players. After she married professional wrestler George Zaharias, she was usually known as either Babe Didrikson or Babe Didrikson Zaharias. The photo measures 4.9x7". The shot depicts Babe teeing off, with some of the gallery already turning their eyes to follow the ball of Didrikson, known as a very long hitter off the tee. Didrikson signed the photo in blue ink, signing as Babe Zaharias. The signature rates 8.5/10. The photo has staple holes at corners but is in otherwise nice condition. The photo has been encapsulated by PSA, and PSA has authenticated the photo as Type I as well as authenticated the signature.
