She said that she got her "Babe" nickname from hitting five home runs in one baseball game, but actually she was called "Bebe" by her mother since Mildred was born. Babe was an amazing Olympian who won three medals in the 1932 Olympics: javelin (Gold), 80-meter hurdles (Gold), and high jump (Silver). She remains the only athlete, female or male, to medal in a throwing, running, and jumping event in the Olympics. In golf, Didrikson won 41 LPGA events, including 10 Majors. Didrikson excelled in many sports. She barnstormed with basketball teams, performed with the House of David baseball team, and even pitched in a few exhibition games against Major League players.
