Dave Bristol was the youngest manager in the Major Leagues (at only 33 years old) when he took the reins of the Cincinnati Reds halfway through the 1966 season, and he managed the Reds through the conclusion of the 1969 season. Offered is a rare, all-original 1967 game worn Dave Bristol Cincinnati Reds uniform. Bristol had been a long-time player and player-manager in Cincinnati's farm system, mostly as an infielder, but he never played in the Major Leagues. His Major League managing career included four teams: Cincinnati Reds (1966-69), Milwaukee Brewers (1970-72), Atlanta Braves (1976-77), San Francisco Giants (1979-80). Bristol had a winning record in each of his seasons at Cincinnati. His managing record with the Reds was 298-265. In '67, when Bristol wore the offered jersey, his Reds finished at 87-75, for 4th place in the NL. A Reds' patch is sewn on the left chest. On the right chest is a sewn-on, red 4. Seven cream-colored buttons run down the front. A MacGregor size 42 manufacturer's tag is in the collar. On the inside, front tail is a Set 2 1967 tag, along with a washing instructions tag, with no longer visible lettering. The back shows BRISTOL in red, sewn-on letters, and under that is 4 in a red, sewn-on numeral. The jersey shows heavy use. There are a few small stains on front and a tiny hole of about 0.25" diameter on the left chest. Despite the extensive use and minor imperfections, the jersey remains in nice condition. Photo-matched to Bristol's team issue photo.
