1977 New York Yankees jersey from their Championship year, game worn by pitcher Carlos May. Road gray uniform has NEW YORK across the button-front chest in navy-on-white tackle twill, with Wilson size 44 tag on front tail and gray strip tag in collar reading "C May 77 1." During his brief stint in the Bronx that encompassed portions of the 1976 and '77 seasons, May wore number 38; this jersey is number 58 but there is clear evidence of a number change as part of the outline of the "3" is visible and the number "5" is loose with fraying evident. Jersey shows heavy wear with pilling on front and some abrasions on back. We are unable to determine if 58 was worn in that '77 season as there were no rostered players with that number until outfielder Bobby Brown wore it in 1979.
