Collection of 151 photographs relating to Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame outfielder Carl Yastrzemski. These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from either his newspaper's photo department or the Boston Red Sox public relations department. The highlight is an original Type I photograph of Yastrzemski taking the field during during his Major League debut on April 11, 1961, at Fenway Park. Many are news photos (including wire photos, where the caption is embedded in the photo), but publicity photos and non-commercial examples are also present. Approximately half picture Yastrzemski off the field, including many capturing him with his wife and children. The photos vary in size, but the majority measure either 7x9" or 8x10", with the others slightly smaller or larger. Because most are news photos, many display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, trimming, creasing, crazing, edge tears, editorial shading and/or markings, pinholes, and writing on the reverse. Please note: none of the photos have been evaluated by PSA, therefore no guarantees are made regarding specific Type designations, however, we believe the majority are NOT Type I examples.
