Displayed is a 1950s Ronald Reagan original photograph used for an Exhibit card of the then-famous movie star who later became the 40th President of the United States. Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois in 1911, and he graduated from Eureka College, in Eureka, Illinois. At the college, he was a student body president, a guard on the football team, and acted in school plays. Always athletic, Reagan was also a lifeguard, and he is credited with saving 77 lives from drowning. After college, he was a sports broadcaster for WHO radio, and he re-created Chicago Cubs broadcasts. As a movie actor, he appeared in 53 films. He was a leading man and acted with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. His movies included Kings Row, with Ann Sheridan (1942), and Santa Fe Trail, with Errol Flynn. He also received renown for famous sports movies: 1) Knute Rockne, All American, with Pat O'Brien, in which Reagan played famous Notre Dame back George Gipp, a role that earned the future President the lifelong nickname of "The Gipper." 2) The Winning Team, in which Reagan played Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander. Reagan has been a two-time President of the Screen Actors Guild. He became the Governor of California. He served two terms (1981-1989) as the President of the United States and was particularly famous for introducing Reaganomics, a policy of reductions in both taxes and government spending. Reagan was also instrumental in the eventual tearing down of the famed Berlin Wall, which had divided Germany during the Cold War. The offered photo measures 4.25x9.25". It is a Type I Warner Brothers photograph. This is the original, black & white "One-of-a-Kind" PROOF photo that made Ronald Reagan's Exhibit Arcade Card. Reagan's facsimile name has been hand-scripted in ink. The photo has a few small stains and some foxing along the edges. The verso of the photo has a machine-stamped "RONALD REAGAN Warner Brothers." The verso also shows glue remnants, and various editing markings. The photo has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as Type I AUTHENTIC. The item comes with a PSA/DNA LOA for the photo.
