Displayed is a Charlton Heston circa 1958 original black & white photo that was used for the Academy Award-winning actor's Exhibit card. Heston was born as John Charles Carter, and he used Heston as his last name after his mother, Lilla Carter, married Chester Heston. The actor grew up in Northern Michigan and spent many hours alone in the woods, hunting and fishing. He also spent much time in the outdoors using his imagination and acting out characters from books. He was involved in the theatre program at Northwestern University from 1941-43. During World War II, he was in the U.S. Army Air Forces in Alaska. He first rose to stardom when he portrayed Moses in the Cecil B. DeMille-directed film The Ten Commandments (1956). Heston won the Academy Award for his portrayal of the title role in Ben-Hur (1959). Heston's other famous films included The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Planet of the Apes (1966), and Airport (1975). The 8x10" photo was issued in 1958 from Paramount Pictures. This is the original "One-of-a-Kind" PROOF photo that made Heston's Exhibit Arcade card. Heston's facsimile name and facsimile inscription (Cordially Yours) has been hand scripted in ink, by an unknown hand. The photo has been encapsulated and comes with a PSA/DNA LOA. PSA/DNA certified (#85148485) as Type I Original Photograph.
