Displayed is a 1930s Babe Ruth cut signature that the Bambino signed in his bold and beautiful script. Although the great Ruth hasn't played a Major League game in nearly nine decades, he still holds all-time MLB lifetime records for SLG (.690) and OPS (1.164). Ruth threw left-handed, but he wrote right-handed, a result of being switched from left-handed writing to right-handed writing when he was attending St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, in Baltimore, Maryland. That Catholic school was observing the common practice of many schools at the time of converting left-handed students into right-handed writers. The success in recent years of Shohei Ohtani as a two-way player has sparked a resurgence of Ruth's great talents as both a batter and pitcher, a hurler with a 94-46 lifetime record, a career ERA of only 2.25, and the only player to have won both a batting title and the ERA crown. The Ruth cut signature is on paper or card stock measuring 2x3.5". The card exhibits some light foxing and darkening, to be expected from the passage of time. On the back of the cut the following has been hand-printed in pen, from an unknown hand: "Summer 1933/Keelers - Albany, N.Y./Died - Aug - 1948." The Ruth signature is in ink, from a fountain pen, and as usual, Ruth's classic script is big and bold, like the man himself. The cut signature has been encapsulated, with a PSA/DNA certified auto grade of NM-MT 8.
