Collection of three different color transparencies, each capturing Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks during a game against the New York Knicks. Two picture Alcindor with the ball in hand as he attempts a layup, while the other pictures him fighting for a rebound. In addition to Alcindor, two of the transparencies picture Knicks forward Dave DeBusschere, and another pictures Knicks forward Phil Jackson. Given the players pictured, these images, which presumably are all from the same game, date between the years 1969 and 1974.
Although no documentation accompanies the transparencies, according to our consignor, they were among many obtained directly from Ozzie Sweet's widow a few years after his death in 2013. Ozzie Sweet was one of the greatest sports photographers of his era, best known for his portraitures and illustrative posed images. However, as seen here, he was equally adept at capturing his subjects in the heat of battle. The transparencies (2.5x2.5") all remain in Near Mint condition.
