Collection of 135 photographs capturing members of the Boston Celtics over the course of three decades (1950s-1970s). These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from either his newspaper's photo department, or the Boston Celtics public relations department. Many are news photos (including wire photos, where the caption is embedded in the photo), but publicity photos are also present. Among the players featured here, either alone or with teammates, are Red Auerbach, Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Bill Sharman, Tom Heinsohn, and Sam Jones (the majority of the photos picture Auerbach). Seventy percent measure approximately 7x9" or 8x10", with the remainder either slightly smaller or larger. Because most are news photos, many display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, trimming, creasing, crazing, edge tears, editorial shading and/or markings, pinholes, and writing on the reverse.
