Hall of Fame center fielder Ken Griffey Jr., with 630 home runs, is the 7th all-time Major League home run hitter. Displayed is a 1992 Ken Griffey Jr. Seattle Mariners game worn gray, short sleeve knit jersey that was purchased from the Seattle Mariners and comes with Mariners team provenance. Griffey played 22 Major League seasons: Seattle Mariners (1989-99 & 2009-10), Cincinnati Reds (2000-08), and Chicago White Sox (2008). Griffey was a 13-time All-Star who was also a defensive marvel, winning 10 Gold Gloves. In parts of the 1990 and 1991 seasons, Ken Griffey Jr. played on the same Seattle Mariners team as his father, Ken Griffey Sr., setting a precedent on Aug. 31, 1990, when they were the first father and son combination to play together on the same Major League team, and the duo set another precedent exactly two weeks later when they became the first, and still only, father and son combo to hit back-to-back home runs.

The jersey has a Majestic manufacturer's tag in the neck, showing a size "XL." Across the chest is "MARINERS" in sewn-on blue letters with gold trim. The right sleeve has a blue, embroidered "Majestic." On back is "24" in blue sewn-on numerals. The jersey shows nice use, with plenty of loose threads. It was originally purchased directly from the Mariners in January 1993, right after the 1992 season ended. Shown is a copy of the letter the Mariners gave to Ball Four Sports, who purchased the items. Our consignor purchased the items from Ball Four Sports a few months later and included is a photo of the advertisement Ball Four Sports put out, which lists this jersey.
