Dating from the final years of the Washington Senators' second tenure before they moved to Arlington, Texas, to become the Rangers in 1972, this circa late '50s satin team jacket is snap-button front, with navy blue base and script Senators across the chest in red-on-white tackle twill. Wilson tag with fading number 33 is in the collar above another tag which has completely faded to blank. Leather hook for hanging is also in the collar, and leather also borders each pocket. Extensive use is evident with fraying at the front of the collar and to the cuffs of both sleeves, plus wear visible in chipped paint from the buttons. Though they had enjoyed success during the 1910s and '20s, the team fell on hard times into the '50s, prompting the move to a new market in Minnesota in 1961, and another Senators franchise lasted from only 1961-71, leaving Washington D.C without a team until the Montreal Expos franchise was moved and became the Nationals in 2005.
