Displayed is a 1951 signed Mickey Mantle New York Yankees replica home pinstriped jersey. 1951 was Mantle's first Major League season, and he mostly played right field as the heir apparent to Joe DiMaggio, still playing center field in his last season as a player. Ahead of Mantle would be his seven World Championships with the Yankees, his great race in 1961 with Roger Maris to break Ruth's single season homer mark of 61, his three AL MVPs, his Triple Crown, and his 536 home runs - the most for any switch-hitter in history. The jersey has a Mitchell & Ness manufacturer's tag in the neck and an adjacent "L" tag for size. On the left chest is an interlocking NY. The left sleeve has an American League 1901-1951 Golden Anniversary patch. The back of the jersey has a navy-blue number 7. The jersey has five ivory buttons down the front, on the lower outside left tail is an MLB Cooperstown Collection tag with a hologram reading "UDG 19484." Under the interlocking NY on the chest, Mantle has signed and inscribed the jersey, using a fiber tip black marker to write:" Mickey Mantle NO. 7." The jersey comes with a replacement UDA (Upper Deck Authenticated) Letter of Authenticity for the piece. The UDA LOA states that the jersey is a limited-edition item "38/536," a number which matches the hand-written, by unknown hand, "38/536" on the lower right tail. The included replacement LOA shows a certification #:"B11234". The jersey also comes with a PSA LOA.
