Presented is a Ty Cobb signed photograph, showing him at the instant that he is finishing his swing, from what appears to be the later part of the Georgia Peach's career, when he was still on the Detroit Tigers. Cobb played for 24 years in the Major Leagues, from 1905-1928. The first 22 years of his career were the Detroit Tigers, and he finished his career with two seasons with the Philadelphia Athletics. Cobb used an unusual batting grip in which his hands were about four inches apart. He was a 12-time batting champion who amassed 4,189 hits, the all-time MLB record until it was broken by Pete Rose. The all-time MLB record for stolen bases was also formerly held by Cobb, who held the record at 897 until it was surpassed by Lou Brock. Cobb's amazing lifetime batting average of .366 is still the highest in baseball history. The displayed photo measures 4.75x6.6". Cobb, an Inaugural Hall of Famer, has signed and inscribed the photo, using his usual green ink, as "To Jody [?] Ty Cobb." Cobb's handwriting is neat and large. The photo has been encapsulated, and the autograph has a PSA/DNA certified Auto Grade of MINT 9.
