Offered is a Gerald Ford autograph duo: Ford's signature is on a Spalding Official NBA Game Ball and on a 3.75x5.75" black and white photo, showing Ford as a college football player, matted to approx. 8x10". Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the United States. He was appointed as Vice President, and then when Richard Nixon resigned as President, Ford became President - the only person to have served as both the Vice president and President without being elected to either position. The signed NBA basketball appears to have been never used. Ford signed his name, in large, neatly written script, with a black marker as "Gerald R. Ford." At the University of Michigan, Ford was a star on the Michigan football team. He played center and linebacker on the 1933 and '34 Michigan teams that went undefeated and won the National Championship. In World War II, Ford was a U.S. Navy officer, and later he graduated from Yale Law School. In the U.S. Congress, he served as the Republican Leader of the House of Representatives. When he was President, Ford enjoyed golfing. Because of a few personal falls and a few errant shots on the golf course, Ford became the object of derisive jokes on television for his supposed lack of athleticism. Yet, his signature on sports-themed memorabilia seems extremely appropriate since he was such an outstanding college football player that he was selected for the 1935 East-West Shrine game in San Francisco, and he received professional offers from teams in the NFL. The signed basketball comes with a PSA LOA, and the signed photo comes with a JSA Basic Certification (#SS20715).
