Displayed is Baseball Heroes #1, a Fawcett Publication issued in 1952. This magazine, done mostly in comic book format, is 32 pages in length, not including covers, measures 7x10.25". A photo of Babe Ruth is featured in the center spot on the magazine's cover. The magazine is geared to younger readers. This #1 issue concentrated on the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the magazine reviews Hall of Famers in an interesting comic book format. Just a few of the Hall of Famers who are briefly profiled. Pitchers - Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Cy Young, Grover Cleveland Alexander, and Lefty Grove. Catchers: Mickey Cochrane and Mike "King" Kelly. Infielders: George Sisler, Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, Nap Lajoie, Charlie Gehringer, Honus Wagner, and John McGraw. Outfielders: Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Mel Ott, and Wee Willie Keeler. The appealing magazine also covers changes in the baseball rules and has many interesting items about baseball history. A small staple is missing near the top of the spine and there is some paper loss around where the staple used to be situated. A few spots show some partial water damage, a general darkening, some very minor paper loss and some surface scratching. Overall, considering the magazine is over 70 years old, it is in very good condition. The magazine provides a nostalgic look at the giants of vintage baseball.
