Thirty-three original paintings used to create this 1966 Topps set is one of the finest issues aesthetically of Topps 1960’s “Silver Age”. Remarkably, this series in wonderful condition includes 33 of the 44 paintings used in the set. Each measures about 5x3.5” and depict marvelous drawings full of character of all of the Universal horror, 1950s movie sci-fi, and other monsters. They show multiple images of Frankenstein (5), Dracula (5), Creature from the Black Lagoon (2), Wolfman (3), Hunchback of Notre Dame (2), Mole Man, Phantom of the Opera, The Mummy (6), King Kong (3), and more. These monsters are shown in valentine silhouette with captions below in pencil. The entire load from the famed Topps Auction in 1989, this is the first time they have seen the light of day since. Beautifully framed in four separate frames that spotlight their true beauty. They are being sold as one lot, which is virtually unheard of for material of this quality. Here is your chance to not only own important Topps original art, but also an archive of it! ?This is the work of legendary illustrator and card artist Norm Saunders. Definitely mirrors the work on Saunders’ great opuses, the 1966 Topps Batman series’ and the famous 1962 Mars Attacks, which changed the way people, look at (and collect) gum cards. Tremendous visual appeal.
