Great remnants from the 1970s rivalry that brought pool to a national audience. No love was lost between master sharpshooter Willie Mosconi and showman Minnesota Fats (Rudolph Wanderone) on whom the film "The Hustler" was purportedly based. Mosconi, who won 19 World Straight Pool Championships in his career, was also a consultant to the 1961 film, which starred Paul Newman as Mosconi and Jackie Gleason as "Fats." Each of the five pool balls in this lot is signed by Mosconi in 9/10 Sharpie (black or silver, depending on the ball color), along with the inscription "Fats can't shine my shoes." Each comes with a PSA Certificate.
