The DiMaggio family, from San Francisco and environs, sent three brothers to the Major Leagues as outfielders. In the presented Associated Press Type III black and white photo, from left to right: Joe DiMaggio, the Hall of Fame center fielder for the New York Yankees who still holds the Major League record for hitting in consecutive games (56); Dom DiMaggio, another center fielder, who was, like Joe, a terrific outfielder and a fine lead-off hitter for the Boston Red Sox; Giuseppe "Poppa" DiMaggio, the proud father of Joe, Dom and a third son, Vince DiMaggio, who was an effective outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates and three other National League teams. The photo measures approx. 7.25x9". On the back of the photo is a caption that had been used with the photo. The caption reads, "New York Gets 'Het Up', over its Giants and Yankees, who tomorrow open World Series. The DiMaggio family, with Brother Dominic and Poppa DiMag in vanguard, arrives to cheer Joe in his second World Series." In this '37 season, DiMaggio, in his second season, finished second in American league MVP voting as Joltin' Joe hit a rousing .346, with prodigious power numbers of 46 home runs and 167 RBIs.
