Presented is a signed, striking color photo of Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle. The photo depicts an older Mantle, well into his career, and the angle of the photo emphasizes Mantle's iconic Number 7 and the broad, sloping shoulders that helped him hit 536 home runs - the most by any switch-hitter in the history of baseball. In his 18-year career, all with the New York Yankees, Mickey was a 3-time American League MVP, a Triple Crown winner in 1956, a member of 20 All-Star teams, a key part of seven World Championships, a lifetime .298 hitter, and part of the focus of the sporting world when he and Roger Maris chased Babe Ruth's 60 homers in 1961. The photo has a magenta cast, so it seems to portray Mantle beneath a high, pink sky. Mantle's navy blue number 7 seems to be red in the photo. The overall effect gives the image a surreal and fascinating look, and it makes Mantle, standing under the vivid sky, seem immortal. The photo measures approx. 8x10". Mantle signed the photo using blue ink from a marker. Under his signature is a blue dot, apparently made by Mantle. When Mickey was a youth working for a coal mining company near his Oklahoma home, he used to spend hours in the company office perfecting his signature, and that effort is apparent in his beautifully, scripted autograph. The signed photo comes with a PSA LOA.
