Amazing questionnaire filled out before the Major League career of a 17-year old Hank Aaron. Paper measures approximately 7.75x6.5" and has been cut from a larger sheet, and it appears as though a segment was separated and reattached. Paper has heavy age toning but the typewritten questions and pencil answers remain perfectly clear. Aaron filled out this form in what may have been something of a job application for "Syd Pollock's Indianapolis Clowns of Negro American League (sic)," as he lists his salary expectations near the bottom as $250 per month. Dated November 13, 1951, other tidbits include his first name listed as "Henry" and his height and weight listed as a stout 5'6" and 150 pounds. His education is listed as "10th Grade" and position short stop was clearly originally written in, with "or second base or outfielder (?)" added at some point. He lists his previous team as the Mobile Black Bears, and under "Present Occupation or Trade During Off-Season," Hammerin' Hank crossed out "basketball" and wrote in "grocery store." Three years later - still the early stages of Major League Baseball integrating Black players - Aaron joined the Milwaukee Braves, setting off a 23-year career that would include 755 home runs, eclipsing the previous record of the immortal Babe Ruth.
