Displayed is a game used and signed bat of Keith Hernandez, a Big Leaguer for 17 seasons, mostly with the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets. Hernandez was a 5-time All-Star who was on two World Series Champs, once each with St. Louis and the New York Mets. Hernandez was a superb fielder who won 11 consecutive Gold Gloves, from 1978-1988 at first base, the most Gold Gloves by any first baseman in MLB history. Hernandez was also a very good contact hitter who averaged .295 for his career, and who led the National League in batting in 1979, his NL Co-MVP season, in which he hit .344. The bat is a Louisville Slugger C271 Keith Hernandez Model. It is 34.25" in length, and it weighs approximately 31.9 ounces. Hernandez's number "17" is written with black marker on the knob. The bat shows good wear, with scuff marks and nicks on the barrel and pine tar on the handle. Hernandez has neatly signed with black marker on the barrel. In the time period within which the bat was used, Hernandez was with the Mets, just prior to being a major contributor to the Mets' World Series Championship in 1986. At present, Hernandez is a color analyst on Mets' telecasts, and the signed bat makes a great memento of a New York Met favorite.
