Early Wynn H&B pro-model ("O16") bat issued for use in the 1957 All-Star Game, played on July 9th at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Signed by Wynn in black marker (grading 10/10) on the sweet spot of the barrel. Pitcher's bats in general are scarce and Wynn is no exception. This is one of only a few Early Wynn pro-model bats we have ever seen, and the fact that it was issued for All-Star Game use makes it especially desirable. The barrel stamping, which is entirely in block letters, reads "All Star Game/Wynn/St. Louis 1957." The model number, "O16," is stamped on the knob. H&B normally issued pitchers only one bat for All-Star Game use, making this a unique Early Wynn game bat. The bat, which is not cracked, measures 36 inches and weighs 33.75 ounces. No use is displayed, but there is a light circular abrasion around the circumference of the barrel (just above the Powerized stamping), and two small gouges in the handle. The lack of use is not surprising given that Wynn didn't record an at bat in the game. However, he did make a mound appearance, allowing three hits and two runs in just one-third inning of work in the seventh, which cut the American League's lead to one run. Fortunately for Wynn, the American League held on to win the game 6-5. This is an exceedingly rare Hall of Fame pitchers bat, with the added appeal of also being a signed All-Star-Game example.
