Original glass negative capturing Brooklyn Robins manager Wilbert Robinson posing with his wife in front of the grandstand. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here was used by Brooklyn only in 1916 and 1917, thereby conclusively dating the image to that narrow two-year span. The notation "Robinson Bklyn" is written along the right border on the reverse. Robinson lead Brooklyn to two pennants during his eighteen-year tenure (1914-1931) with the club. Before that he was one of the top players on the legendary Baltimore Orioles of the 1890s. Robinson was elected to the Hall of Fame posthumously in 1945. The negative (7x5") remains in Excellent condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
