Original glass plate negative picturing Hall of Fame outfielder Tris Speaker as a member of the Boston Red Sox. Speaker is pictured in his follow-through swing as he takes batting practice prior to a game. A number of his teammates are pictured in the background as they watch "The Gray Eagle" take his cuts. The bunting and numerous American Flags displayed throughout the stadium suggest this image might depict the action prior to a World Series game, or perhaps the season opener. Speaker played with the Red Sox from 1907 to 1915, during which time the club won two World Championships (1912 ad 1915). The negative (5x4") displays loss emulsion loss along the top and bottom borders, but the central image area is free of any major flaws. Speaker's last name is lightly written along left border on the reverse. In Good to Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
