Atlanta Braves road jersey worn by Hall of Fame reliever Bruce Sutter during the 1985 season. Graded A10 by MEARS. The blue knit jersey is lettered "Atlanta" across the front and features the number "40" on the left breast and reverse. "Sutter" is lettered on a blue name plate on the reverse. All front letters and numerals are applied in blue on white tackle twill. All reverse letters are applied in blue tackle twill. A "Wilson Size 42" wash tag appears in the collar. The year, "85," is chain-stitched in blue on a blue strip tag located on the left front tail. The jersey is all original and displays light use. Sutter appeared in 58 games during the 1985 season, finishing the year with a 7-7 record, 23 saves, and a 4.48 ERA. One of the most dominant relief pitchers of his era, Sutter led the National League in saves five times, including four consecutive seasons from 1979 to 1982. In 1979 he became just the third relief pitcher in history to win the Cy Young Award and he finished in the top ten of MVP balloting five times. He retired after the 1988 season with 300 career saves and a 2.83 ERA. In 2006 he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the first pitcher to receive that honor who had never started a Major League game.
