Kansas City Royals road jersey worn by Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett in 1988. Graded A10 by MEARS. The blue knit jersey is lettered "Royals" across the front and features the number "5" on the left breast and reverse. "Brett" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in white tackle twill. Located on the interior left front tail are a "Rawlings Size 42" wash label and an adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1988." A Royals team patch is on the left sleeve. Brett has signed the jersey in blue Sharpie (8/10) on the right breast. The jersey is all original and displays moderate wear. Although he was a seasoned fifteen-year veteran entering the 1988 season, Brett proved that he was still one of the best hitters in the game. Playing in 157 games, Brett finished the year with 24 home runs, 103 RBI, and a .306 batting average. A three-time batting champion, MVP Award winner, and member of baseball's elite 3,000 hit club, Brett retired after the 1993 season with a .305 lifetime average, 3,154 hits, 317 home runs, and 1,596 RBI. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, his first year of eligibility. An exemplary George Brett game-used jersey dating from one of his finest all-around seasons.
