Japanese ticket stub from the game in which Jackie Robinson hit his penultimate career home run in 1956. Graded FR 1.5 by PSA. This is the ONLY example of this rare ticket graded by PSA. Robinson's second-to-last home run of his career took place during the Dodgers' 1956 Tour of Japan in a game played on October 19th. Neither the public nor the Dodgers knew it at the time, but the Brooklyn Dodgers' 1956 exhibition tour of Japan marked Jackie Robinson's last appearance as a professional player. After losing to the Yankees in the World Series, the Dodgers almost immediately set off to Japan for a 22 game tour. Robinson had played 117 games in 1956 and hit .275, but he decided over the off-season to retire in order to take an executive position with Chock Full o'Nuts. He didn't announce his decision immediately because he had sold his retirement story rights to Life magazine, but when the Dodgers traded him to the New York Giants, Robinson was forced to announce he was retiring. All of this was unknown at the time of the Japanese visit, and when Robinson homered on October 19th, no one realized it would be his second-to-last home run. (His final home run occurred on November 12th.) The ticket (5.25.3"), which pictures a colorful baseball scene of a player sliding into a base, is printed in entirely in Japanese and bears the date "10 19." A rare and historical souvenir from that significant postseason tour.
