Vintage Type IV photograph capturing Babe Ruth hugging Lou Gehrig at Yankee Stadium near the conclusion of the emotional Lou Gehrig Day ceremony. This is a classic image and reflects the heartfelt sentiment that Ruth had toward his longtime teammate. Prior to the event, Ruth and Gehrig had not spoken to each other in years over a dispute that arose during the 1934 Tour of Japan. Gehrig’s illness obviously softened Ruth’s feelings and, judging by the smiles on their faces neither player appears to hold any grudges. A Brown Brothers credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with a few handwritten editorial notations. The photo measures 8x10” and displays a tiny corner chip and light border creases. VG. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type IV Authentic.
