Original Type I photograph of Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby as a member of the New York Giants. Hornsby is pictured at the plate during pregame batting practice. A Brown Brothers label and numerous Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with Hornsby’s name and additional editorial markings. 1927 marked Hornsby’s only season with the Giants and he posted typical numbers that year. The “Rajah” batted .361 with 26 home runs and 125 RBI. Hornsby led the National league in hitting seven times, including three seasons batting over .400, and his lifetime average of .351 remains the highest for any right-handed hitter.
