Government postcard inscribed and dated by Jim Thorpe. PSA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Thorpe's inscription, rendered in pencil (grading 9/10), reads "Good Luck/Jim Thorpe/1950." Postmarked from Los Angeles, California, on November 8, 1950. Thorpe, a former Olympic Champion in 1912, was considered to be the greatest all-around athlete of his era. Unfortunately, at the time he signed this postcard, he was down on his luck and nearly penniless. Suffering from chronic alcoholism, and a number of other health ailments, he passed away just three years later at the age of 66. The postcard (5.5x3.25") displays two small areas of adhesive residue on the front and a light stain. Very Good condition.
