An original Eddie Germano pen and ink on artist board depiction of Mickey Mantle and his 1964 exploits. This original drawing is dated 9/23/64 and features Mantle and his knee issues during the 1964 season. There are pencil notations in the margins and the artwork is in Excellent condition. Eddie Germano was born in Boston on November 15th, 1924.  He started working at age 16 for the Boston Post before a stint in the US Army.  After the military, he worked in several newspapers until 1968 when he joined the Brockton Enterprise where he began a career in sports cartooning.  Germano is best known for his Boston Globe work which began in 1971 and he is famous for his sports cartoons featuring Hall of Fame members and Boston area sports icons.
